HSIP x StudioRadio Network

The DC Department of Employment Services' High School Internship Program connects District students with real host employers across the city — and WAGC 104.7 FM | StudioRadio Network is one of them. When DOES matches you or forwards your resume to us, you're not just getting a worksite assignment — you're stepping into SmartRadio, our in-house Creator Development Program built specifically for HSIP interns.

Where other host sites might have you filing paperwork or answering phones, SmartRadio puts you in a live, FCC-licensed broadcast and media environment once to twice a week — learning radio, podcast production, and content creation from the inside.

What we’re doin’

  • Interns get hands-on with the day-to-day of running a live station — operating broadcast software, managing playlists and rotation, monitoring the signal, and helping keep programming on schedule. It's real operational experience, not just observation.

  • SmartRadio is our in-house Creator Development Program — the hands-on training track for every intern at WAGC 104.7 FM | StudioRadio Network. You’ll learn applications like OBS and Capcut.

  • Interns interested in animation can train on Character Creator and iClone, building original characters and learning the pipeline behind our animated series, Nepotism 2051. This track covers character building, motion, and how animated content gets produced and published, alongside your SmartRadio broadcast training.

  • Interns help create and manage content for WAGC and StudioRadio's social channels, including posts, clips, and campaign material tied to our on-air programming. You'll get hands-on experience in content planning, posting, and audience engagement as part of your SmartRadio training.
